Canadian Evangeline Lilly's irresistible combination of beauty, charm and talent is earning her a reputation as one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood.
Like co-star Matthew Fox, Evangeline's good looks did not go unnoticed for long. She was 'discovered' by a scout for the Ford modelling agency on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia, although she initially passed up an offer to sign with the agency.
When she moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia, however, she did sign with Ford to help pay for tuition. But after appearing in a few commercials, acting took a back seat as she decided to focus on studying for a degree in international relations.
Evangeline worked a variety of other jobs - as a flight attendant, waitress, and completed oil changes on big rigs.
On the advice of a friend, a couple of years later Evangeline gave acting another shot. A few minor roles followed before she landed a part in Kingdom Hospital - Stephen King's spooky hospital drama - and this led to her being cast as Kate in Lost.
Prior to her starring role on Lost, Evangeline worked as an extra on film sets to help pay her University tuition. She can be seen in episodes of Tru Calling, Dead Like Me and Smallville, and in several films including White Chicks, The Chronicles of Riddick, Stealing Sinatra and Freddy Vs. Jason.
She founded and ran a world development and human rights committee at her university. She has lived under a grass hut in the jungles of the Philippines with a missionary group, and has been a volunteer for children's projects since the age of 14.
Her father is a Home Economics teacher in Canada. Her mother worked as a cosmetician and ran a daycare centre.
Evangeline is fluent in French, and loves ice-skating, canoeing, snowboarding and rock climbing and Evangeline has two sisters - younger sister is named Andrea.
Kate, her character on Lost, is frequently seen climbing trees. This is because the very athletic Lilly loves to climb trees herself. However, Evangeline refused to do a partial nude scene in an early episode of Lost.
She presented The Tragically Hip at Live 8 Canada and her nickname is Evi.
Evangeline was voted one of the Breakout Stars of 2004 by Entertainment Weekly Magazine and named #2 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2005 list.

I love Evi Lily, she's one of those people that gives their time up for anyone. By the way, does anyone know who she played in the film 'White Chicks'? I know the film really well, but I don't remember seeing Evi in it at all...
