Rose makes a food pantry on the beach. Bernard is frustrated because he feels everyone has given up on rescue. Jack tells Gale that he is going to trade him back to the Others for Walt. Rose tries to give Hurley cookies, but he refuses, sticking to his diet. Ana gives Jack her gun for the journey. Jack invites Kate.
In the flashback we see that Rose and Bernard have only been together for a year or so. He proposes and shhe reveals she has cancer. He becomes obsessed. They were in Austrailia to see a faith healer who couldn't help her.
Bernard tells the group he's assembled his plans to build an S.O.S. sign. Rose chides him about giving people false hope. Bernard asks Eko and Charlie for help but they refuse. Eko reveals his project is a church. They begin work on the sign but Bernard is too bossy and is left on his own. Kate is stupid and her and Jack end up caught in one of Danielle's nets. Jack shoots the rope and they get out. Rose talks to Locke about healing. Kate tells Jack about the medical hatch the women found. Jack yells to the Others about the trade. Rose reveals to Bernard that she doesn't want to leave the island because it healed her cancer. Locke tries to sketch the map he saw but gets frustrated. Jack and Kate hear someone coming and Micheal falls in front of them unconscious.
