Emilie de Ravin
Birth Name: Emilie de Ravin
Date of birth: 27 December 1981
Place of birth: Victoria, Australia
Emilie (pronounced Emily) de Ravin was born and raised in Australia, where she studied ballet from the age of nine.
When she was 15, she was accepted into the highly selective Australian Ballet School, where she gained invaluable performance experience. She then went on to study acting at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art.
Her big acting break came when she landed the exotic role of The Demon Curupira on the popular television series Beastmaster: The Legend Continues.
Within a month of moving to Los Angeles from Australia, she became a series regular on Roswell - she was on Roswell before she even owned an apartment. In Roswell, Emilie played an alien, Tess, who gets pregnant and leaves the earth before the pregnancy is visible. In Lost, she plays a girl who is near the end of her pregnancy.
After 2 years on the show, she then made notable guest appearances in CSI: Miami and The Handler. Soon after, she starred in the television remake of Stephen King's classic horror film, Carrie, as the bad girl, Chris.
Her appearances in Lost have led to big screen opportunities. She has recently made three feature films: the black comedy Santa's Slay, the drama/mystery Brick, and the remake of the 1977 classic horror flick, The Hills Have Eyes.
Emilie is now on the Emmy-award winning ABC series Lost, playing Claire, a young Australian who gave birth on the mysterious island.
Despite filming in Hawaii, Emilie lives in California with her fiancée, Josh Janowicz, and her pet dog, Bella. Emilie became engaged to actor Josh Janowicz on 1 January 2005 while they visited her family back in Australia for the holidays.
In her spare time she enjoys painting, shopping and exercising and she also has two older sisters.
Emilie was named #47 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2005 list.
