Matthew Fox
Birth Name: Matthew Fox
Date of birth: 14 July 1966
Place of birth: Wyoming, USA
Tall, dark and handsome, the charismatic Matthew Fox makes an ideal leading man, which is fortunate, given his choice of profession.
Hailing from a ranch in Wyoming, where Matthew's parents raised longhorn cattle and horses and grew barley for Coors beer, Matthew entered the Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts for a post-grad year after leaving Wind River high school. Matthew was the archetypal all-American boy who played football at Columbia University, where he also studied economics. He graduated in 1989.
His intended career as a successful Wall Street broker was put on hold when a girlfriend's mother persuaded him to audition for some modelling work. A couple of hit commercials later, Matthew decided acting was for him and went on to enrol in The School for Film and Television in New York City.
Before Lost, he was best known for starring in the hugely successful series, Party of Five, which won the 1996 Golden Globe for Best Drama.
He has numerous other credits, including a starring role in the critically acclaimed series Haunted and the made-for-television movie Behind the Mask, in which he played a young patient opposite Donald Sutherland's ageing doctor.
He has two children, Kyle and Byron, to Margherita Ronchi who he married in 1991 and Matthew has been a keen horse rider since he was six years old.
Matthew is good friends with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and he is a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
He frequently hosts parties at his house where the whole cast of Lost gathers to watch the last episode they had filmed. Matthew is also the tallest principal cast member of "Lost" at just over 6' 2". Josh Holloway and Terry O'Quinn are just slightly shorter.
He is sometimes credited as Matt Fox and his nickname is Foxy.
Matthew was chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world in 1996.
