Harold Perrineau Jr
Birth Name: Harold Williams
Date of birth: 7 August 1963
Place of birth: New York, USA
Perrineau is his mother's maiden name and his father is Harold Williams Sr. His parents never married, so he used both names growing up, eventually settling on Williams. When he joined SAG there was already a Harold Williams, so he took the Perrineau from his mom and the Jr. from his dad for his stage name, even though there is no actual Harold Perrineau Sr.
An accomplished actor of stage, screen, and television, Harold Perrineau has earned a reputation as a versatile performer willing to take on any role.
Brooklyn born Harold studied music and theatre at the Shenandoah Conservatory. After several successful stage roles, he shot to fame as the wheelchair bound Augustus Hill in Oz, HBO's tough prison drama. Other TV credits include guest appearances on ER, Law & Order and The Cosby Show.
On the big screen, he was featured in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, as well as The Best Man, where he starred opposite Taye Diggs and Nia Long. Other feature film credits include Smoke, Woman on Top, Romeo and Juliet, Lulu on the Bridge and Lee Tamahori's The Edge, opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.
Harold cut his trademark "locks" after appearing in The Matrix Movies.
He continues to combine a screen career with acting on stage, and recently received critical acclaim for his challenging performance in Blue/Orange, playing a young man diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder.
He married Brittany (who is a model/actress) on the 27th of August 2002 and they are currently still married. Harold divides his time between homes in his native New York City and Los Angeles.
Harold and his wife have a daughter, Aurora Robinson Perrineau.
